Limemist smiled. "Excellent. Do you think I have time to take a nap?" She pulled her kits close to her and dozed off without even waiting for an answer. Her kits snuggled into her belly and began to slowly fall asleep as well, tired from a rigorous afternoon of playing clans.

Leopardpelt padded out of the nursery, with a huff. His golden eyes narrowed towards the forest, the deputy decided he would go out for a little hunt after all the prey pile was running low again. The golden pelted, black spotted tom dashed into the forest with a smile before walking deeper into the lush greenery. His paw steps became light and faint as he stalked a squirrel, that was on the ground. With one leap he landed on the small woodland creature, killing it swiftly. Leopardpelt gave a satisfied purr, before heading back to camp with his kill.

Fogstream had looked for the CliffClan leader, even calling into her den in case she was there. But because she had received no reply, the she-cat did not enter to tell her that the medicine cat had left for the Moonriver. She could only hope that Swiftstar had been in her den when she had been there.
That was a half moon ago. Stormshadow was back, and Fogstream was in the nursery, her belly clenching every few minutes. It was quite clear to her that the kits were coming.
The two cats she thought of were Quickfoot and Stormshadow. She couldn't do this without her mate with her. "Quickfoot! Stormshadow!" she wailed, hoping someone could hear her through the thick nursery walls. Someone did. Stormshadow rushed in moments later, lavender and other herbs Fogstream didn't recognize in her jaws.
Fogstream watched as Stormshadow registered what was happening. "Stay calm," the medicine cat told the queen. "Take these. They will help throughout the process." Fogstream nodded and lapped up the leaves placed in front of her. She could feel her stomach ripple and couldn't hold back a wail. Her kits were finally coming, but it hurt more than she could have imagined.
