((Another cat might have to take the deputy's place. Maybe Lightpool, and then Lightpool could become leader and choose a deputy. Shadowstar has been leader for a long time so she should probably step down very soon.))

((I don't know, but now I think something should happen. *thinks*  )) Tigerpaw trotted forward, his mouth open to take in scents from the air. It was nice to be alone with Littlepaw again, he felt like he hadn't seen her in ages. The familar feeling in his heart when he was with her had come back and his heart soared. He felt like with her he could fly. But he was just an apprentice so he tried hard to move away from those feelings. But he soon found that impossible, so he silently and secretly accepted them. The black and white tom stopped at a marsh. His paws could feel the moisture in the ground but it wasn't enough to make him uncomforatble. In fact, it was soothing. ((Maybe an eagle could attack?)) ((That's fine with me! It can carry Littlepaw a few feet off the ground, but Tigerpaw can save her. Then they can fight the bird, bring it back to camp, and become warriors.)) Littlepaw silently followed her friend through the soggy marsh, and the only noises that she could hear were bird calls and the squishing sound when she walked around. |

Tigerpaw was happier than he had been for a long time. He was with Littlepaw again.
Suddenly, his pleasant thoughts were interupted by a shriek from above. He looked up and jumped out of the way, just barely missing a huge bird's talons. The eagle dove again, its eyes focused on its prey. It was the bird's call he had heard but he hadn't known it at the time. With frantic eyes he shot up a paw but missed the bird. His claws met only the air.

The eagle flew at Littlepaw after missing Tigerpaw, and its long talon snagged on her ear. After taking out a small piece of her ear, the eagle came back at her and grasped her in its talons.

"No! Not Littlepaw!" Tigerpaw felt determination flow through him from head to tail. He bunched his muscles and flew at the eagle, his claws piercing the bird's skin. He gripped tighter and bit at its feathers. The eagle let out a shriek of pain.

As Tigerpaw dug his claws into the eagle's skin, it wailed in pain and released its grip on Littlepaw. She plumited a few feet, landing safely in the damp marsh. She licked her scratches from the eagle's talons, then climbed a tree so she could get closer to the eagle. Littlepaw climbed to the top, then jumped out and dug her claws into the bird's neck.

The eagle fell to the ground, its wings badly damaged. Tigerpaw finished it off with a bite in the neck. The body became still and Tigerpaw turned to Littlepaw with shining eyes. "Great fight, Littlepaw! It's a good way to start out leafbare: having a big piece of fresh-kill to feed the Clan!"
