Foxpaw went over to the fresh kill pile, picking up a mouse, she was happy even thought NightClan was facing trouble. New kits were a sign of hope.

[Golden]

"I won't tell anyone." Goldenheart promised Wolfsoul. "I guess you were just unlucky." she sighed. " But I know StarClan will always watch over us." she told her, glancing at the sky of snow clouds. "And you can tell me anything."

"Thank you Goldenheart." Wolfsoul replied. "I guess we should be heading back to camp now." As they were approaching the NightClan camp, they heard the rustling coming from inside the nursery. Goldenheart and Wolfsoul went to the nursery to find 3 new kits! One girl named Dawnkit, and two boys named Stonekit and Ghostkit.
((wow! Ghostkit is just like Wolfsoul's brother!))
"Aww, they are so adorable. At least StarClan is being nice to someone. I'm glad I was here to experience such a wonderful thing that has occured!" Wolfsoul replied in a guilty mew.

Poppytail stepped into the clearing to stretch. she had just woken up from her nap. She saw Goldenheart and Wolfsoul by the nursery.

[Golden]

Goldenheart purred. "What a wonderful thing for NightClan, and of course, you Burningsoul. I am sure they will make you proud."she told the queen. "But we do have something to discuss, Burningsoul." They needed to talk about Frostpelt. She had told Goldenheart that Frostpelt and her were over!

Poppytail looked at the pitiful freshkill pile. The clan was running low on prey. She could already see some cats in the clan growing thinner.

Ghostkit nuzzled close to his mother for milk. Once he moved, so did his brother and sister. They took up all the space beside their mother, so there was no room for him. Ghostkit curled up in a corner far from his family and went to sleep, feeling hungry.

Mistypaw limped out of the medicine cat den. Her leg was feeling better, although a little stiff, but Mossleaf said it would recover, and she would be a warrior again.

Cold air rushed into the nursery and only hit the corner where Ghostkit was curled up. He started shivering. He moved to another corner, and the cold wind followed him. Ghostkit was miserable. He started to cry.

((WOW! This is getting good, even for the beginning of the third book!!!))

"Goldenheart?" Wolfsoul asked shyly. "May I go out and hunt? I didn't know if should of asked or not, so I just did."

[ghostie]

Ghostkit was miserable. He couldn't take it anymore! He got up and ran out of the camp. He kept running until he couldn't feel the ground under his paws. Ghostkit fell and hit cold water. "Help!" he yowled. He tried to yowl gaain, but his lung filled up with water and he could no longer breathe.

"Goldenheart? Did you hear a splash?" Before she had time to answer, Wolfsoul took off to the river and saw Ghostkit in the water. "Ghostkit! Hold on, I'm coming!" She couldn't let a brand new member of the clan die just like that. She looked around and saw a large piece of bark. "Grab on to this!" she meowed to Ghostkit. But before she could even throw it with her strong teeth, Ghostkit went under the rushing water. Wolfsoul dived into the water, even though it was every cat's worst fear. Ghostkit was clawing the water and straining every muscle to get above water. After what seemed like time slowed down for a whole green leaf, she finally reached the small, helpless kit. Wolfsoul's legs were strong, so she was able to get to the soft grass very quickly. She hauled the wet heap of fur on the bank and started licking furiously. "Please live." she said after every other lick. "Please live. I know what death in a family feels like and I don't want it to happen again!" Then she got ahold of herself and called, "Mossleaf, Goldenheart, Poppytail, anyone, come and help!" Wolfsoul kept on licking Ghostkit's fur, and finally saw the rise and fall of his small belly. "Thank StarClan." she heaved. "I think he'll live."

Ghostkit couldn't breathe. He coughed and coughed, but that only made it worse. He saw starry cats around him. Everything was going black...

Echoleaf was around the nightclan border. she looked around to see a small kit. "What happened?"

((since the nightclan med cats aren't on, I asked echoleaf if she would come and get the water out of his lungs))

"Oh never mind!" Echoleaf said noticing the kit. "Do you have any Coltsfoot?"

"I don't really know." Wolfsoul replied to Echoleaf. "I head a large splash and then came to the river to find that Ghostkit was drowning! I tried to lick him so the air could go into his lungs, and I think it worked a little bit, but not a lot, I guess." Wolfsoul mewed like she was worthless to NightClan. She couldn't even save a newborn kit. How would she ever be able to fit in?
