NightClan RP (Book 4!)

"StarClan hasn't spoken to me about this. I think it means that I can't keep them. They aren't supposed to be part of my life." Brownfur murmured, her love-filled eyes never leaving the tiny scraps of fur beside her. She had an idea. Carefully picking the kits up in her jaws she brought them to a tree near the camp. It was well protected with a large hole in the side. Brownfur's scent would be covered- the smell of the plans there was strong. Gathering the few pieces of moss she could fine, the medicine cat placed it in the tree's hole like a nest. Then she placed her kits in it. She touched her nose to theirs and whispered, "I love you." She made sure they were safe one more time before covering her own tracks by erasing them with a branch and leaves. She'd check on them multiple times a day to see if someone had found them and if they were safe. She would secretly make sure that they survived leaf-bare no matter what. Then she turned away and ran back to her den. As soon as her eyes fell upon Streamshimmer she knew what to do. "Streamshimmer," she whispered, "I think you should get soem fresh air. You've been cooped up in here for days. You won't be able to keep your kit hidden much longer." Her voice was gentle and kind.
Streamshimmer sighed. "I know. I don't know what I will say, but I'll leave this den soon. Will you watch Dustkit for a minute while I step out?"
"Of course."

Streamshimmer left the camp, tail swishing. She heard a faint cry and ran toward it, her heart nearly stopping at the sight of her discovery. Two tiny kits were placed in a tree. They were abandoned by the looks of it. The queen took them from their nest. "I'll be your mother," she mewed. "I'll take care of you two. You'll be NightClan kits; my kits. I won't let anything hurt you." Her heart went out to the kittens and she carried them back to the camp. She made it safely back to Brownfur without anyone noticing. "Look, Brownfur! I found these kits alone! I think their mother has left them. Do you?"
Brownfur pretended to be surprised as she sniffed them. "Yes. Will you take care of them? They're new-borns, not much younger than your Dustkit. They're pretty healthy but they will need a mother. I don't think their mother will come back for them."
"Should I say they're mine?"
"Yes." It hurt so much to say that one word. She'd lost her kits forever. They'd never know their real mother. Brownfur told herself that it was for the best.
"I think I'll go to the nursery now. Will you spread the news that I just had three kits? Two toms and a she-cat."
Brownfur nodded as Streamshimmer took the kits one-by-one to the nursery. It took a lot for her to not break down right then and there. Brownfur was strong and caring; she'd get through this. But not without pain in her heart.

Mysterysong looked up when Streamshimmer entered the den. "You had kits?" She asked.
"Yes. I was in Brownfur's den, though." She lied. It was hard to lie but she had to.
"Congratulations!" Mysterysong purred.
"You, too. Oh, hello, Maplefur! Have you given them names?"
"We have." Maplefur replied proudly. "Rainkit, Dreamkit, and Leopardkit." He pointed to each kit with his tail.
"What about you?" Mysterysong didn't want to be rude by asking Streamshimmer's mate. She had no idea what had happened in the relationship and didn't need to.
"This is Owlkit, Wetkit, and Dustkit."
"They're beautiful."
"So are yours."
The three cats were instantly friends. They chatted for a while, discussing memories and their kits. Brownfur passed on the news of Streamshimmer's kits and soon found out about Mysterysong's.

Mysterysong realized that the other queen in the den wasn't talking. She turned her head and was frantic when she saw Sundrop dead. "Sundrop! Sundrop!" She cried. But the she-cat didn't move.

"Sundrop!" Maplefur and Streamshimmer called.
"Let's get her body to the clearing so that we can mourn her." Mysterysong whispered, tears in her eyes. She made sure her kits would be okay before taking Sundrop's body in her jaws. The others helped. "Where's her kit?" Mysterysong asked through the fur. She set Sundrop down in the clearing. The Clan would mourn her that night.

"I would like it a lot if you could stay with me while I sleep. Don't let any monsters get me, kay?" Sally mewed sleepily. Before Dewwing could answer she had drifted into a peaceful sleep. Uninterrupted by the awful nightmares that had haunted her while she was trapped under the branch. As she slept she thought about the kind she-cat who had rescued her.

Lunarkit stared in horroras the the furballs-whiche she came to call cats- were carrying her furball and/or cat! This was not fair! That was HER furball and/or cat! If they wanted one, they could go get their own! Feeling very angry, she began to let out defiant squeaks of anger.

((Yeah, Golden. I'll make Goldenpaw a warrior when I make Hollykit and Foxkit apprentinces. I'll also announce that Waterstep and Sundrop have died, and also that we have seven more kits. (Dreamkit, Dustkit, Lunarkit, Leopardkit, Wetkit, Owlkit and Rainkit.) Wolfstar doesn't know that Thrushstipe is dead or that Sally will be joining the Clan soon. What will Goldenpaw's name be and who will mentor Hollykit and Foxkit?))

Wolfstar still looked at Waterstep with thoughtful eyes. "I will miss you, my friend." The Clan will mourn for her tonight. The leader looked over and saw Maplefur, Streamshimmer and Mysterysong drag Sundrop into the clearing. Wolfstar slowly stood up and limped over to the queen. "We will be mourning for you too." she said sadly. The black she-cat padded toward the Highrock and slowly climbed up. She stood up, slightly crouched over. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" she yowled out.

Fogpool padded toward the Highrock and sat down. She looked around for Ghostmask, Thrushstripe, Gorsebranch and Dewwing but didn't see any of them. "I hope that they are alright." she whispered.

Dewwing heard Wolfstar's cry for the meeting and was about to get up, but then she looked at Sally. "I promised that I would stay with you." she said. "And I'll keep my promise." She got herself comfortable in the moss bed next to Sally and waited to listen to what Wolfstar had to say.

As Wolfstar yowled from the HIghrock Sally stirred slightly. "What's worng she asked?" still half asleep.

Dewwing looked around as she heard a noise. She looked down at Sally and saw that the kit was awake. "Oh. It's nothing. Wolfstar is just calling a Clan meeting."

"Oh, what is a clan meeting?" Sally asked curious as always.

[Golden]

((Goldenspirit. Lunarkit, would you like one of the queens to take care of you since Sundrop died?))

Mysterysong padded over to Lunarkit. "I'm sorry Lunarkit, but your mother, Sundrop, has passed on to StarClan. Don't worry, though. You'll be safe here in NightClan. Come back to the nursery. You will be able to hear Wolfstar there, too."
Streamshimmer and Mysterysong returned to the nursery. Instead of going inside they waited outside by the entrance to listen to their leader.
Brownfur went into the clearing, trying to look casual.

Lunarkit didn't know what the cat was saying, but she went with it because it had said one of the words her 'mother' had used alot-Safe.

Inside the nursury, she could hear some cat yowling. She tried to make any kind of sense of the meows, but hs e couldn't think of anything. SHe just listened for things she already knew.

Goldenpaw, Maplefur, and Flameriver sat down under the Highrock as they waited for Wolfstar to begin.

((I don't have enough time to start the meeting now, so I'll do it after school.))

"Well, a Clan meeting is when the leader needs to tell the Clan something important." Dewwing told Sally. "Wolfstar probably wants to announce Waterstep's death and maybe make a few kits apprentices."

Meadowkit stared at Dewwing with wonder. "What does a clan do? Who is Waterstep? What is a kit? Can I become an apprentice to?" All of these quesions tumbled from Sally's mouth. She was awestruck by what she was learning.

[~*WOLFIE*~]

"Whoa! Hold on there!" Dewwing said as Sally threw questions at her. "If you want to be part of the Clan, then you'll have to talk to Wolfstar about that. Besides, if you were to join, you would be a kit, not an apprentice." She smiled at Sally, who wanted to learn so much about Clan life.

Wolfstar looked around at the cats below her. "First of all, I would like to make note that two cats from NightClan have joined StarClan. Those two cats are Waterstep and Sundrop." The leader bowed her head and remembered the warrior and queen. "We will mourn for them tonight." Then Wolfstar again layed her eyes on the NightClan cats. "Will Goldenpaw please step foreward? I, Wolfstar, leader of NightClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to under stand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Goldenpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

The outgoing apprentice came forward. She was glowing with pride and hoped that her mother was proud of her, too. "I do!" She meowed loudly.
