Everything seemed to flow. All cats knew what to do and where to go. Nobody was confused or arguing. Mousepaw couldn't believe that soon she would flow like this once she got used to it all.

Duskpool scanned the still gathered crowd of cats for Mousepaw, finding her quickly. Once he'd walked over to her, he asked, "Congratulations, Mousepaw. Do you know your way around yet?"

Blazepaw sauntered up to where Duskpool and Mousepaw were talking.
"Of course she doesn't know her way around yet. Even if she were Clan-born, she'd still lose her way," she snickered, not caring as usual that she had completely butted into a conversation with nothing useful to say. "Wonder who'd want you as an apprentice."

"I kind if know my way around," she said, and shot a glance at Blazepaw. Mousepaw wondered why Blazepaw was so grumpy all the time. Ever since she got here all she has heard from her was how useless she was. Mousepaw could already tell that her and Blazepaw would not like each other very much.

The sarcastic apprentice sniffed. "Well, whatever." She had a rare moment and decided to be slightly helpful. "Might as well tell you a little about all the Clans so that you don't make Smokeclan look bad. There are four of them--Nightclan, Forestclan, Cliffclan, and Smokeclan, duh. Let me tell you, you came to the right Clan. Nightclan is too foresty and dense, Forestclan should be more foresty considering its name, and Cliffclan is too dry and crumbly. The marshes and mist are perfect for me." Blazepaw inhaled deeply. "It always smells nicest around here, too."

Right after Blazepaw said something helpful Mousepaw changed her mind. Maybe the two could be friends after all.

Duskpool gave Blazepaw a questioning look. One minute she was insulting Mousepaw, the next, she was helping her. What made her act like that? Maybe he could help. "Blazepaw, would you like to help me show Mousepaw around camp a little more?" He turned to Mousepaw. "That is, if you want us to show you around."

"Yeah, I'll help," Blazepaw offered. She felt like she had to mean to Mousepaw because of the way she treated other cats, but she seemed to be growing a little fond of the new apprentice. This annoyed her, but she managed to control it.

Mousepaw followed Blazepaw and Duskpool around camp. For a second she thought that Blazepaw looked friendly as if she really wanted to be friends with her. Mousepaw was starting to like this grouchy cat. They were already haveing little conversations with each other.

As he walked around the camp, showing Mousepaw where everthing was, Duskpool smiled inwardly. It seemed that his plan was working. Blazepaw was already becoming nicer to Mousepaw.

The group of cats stopped in front of the apprentices' den. "This is where you sleep," Blazepaw meowed, flicking her fiery tail. "Until you came, it was just me, Ivypaw, and Shinepaw." The apprentice made a face. "Hopefully I become a warrior soon. I've only been training for about a moon and a half, though."

Mousepaw stuck her head in. It seemed pretty roomy. "I hope you stay an apprentice. Then we can hang out and do stuff together." she boldly commented. Mousepaw hoped that she wasn't rushing their friendship.

Blazepaw blinked. No cat had ever said something like that to her. She had absolutely no idea how to respond, so she just blinked. "Yeah, the warriors' den is pretty crowded. Plus I'm not exactly Lightstar's favorite little apprentice," she meowed.

"Well, being her favorite doesn't matter. You just have to listen and be cooperative. Which, not to be rude, but we all know that's a little hard for you." Mousepaw said, hoping her tone wasn't snooty. Hastily she added, "But no matter how you act I'll always be your friend." Then she smiled and kept walking beside her.

Blazepaw had to chuckle a little bit at Mousepaw's snide comment. She liked cats who weren't afraid to go out and say stuff like that. Hence her own behavior. "I like how you can say that to a friend. If you can call me that yet," she said. "Most cats don't really give me a second look."

Duskpool snorted. "I wonder why," but quickly added, "you don't really do anything to make others notice you. Unless you don't want others to notice you..." he trailed off, his ears growing hot from embarassment. Blazepaw'd let Mousepaw get by with that, but an older cat? Maybe not.

Mousepaw said with a friendly look in her eyes. "I don't want our friendship to end with a fight about something I said." She added.

"I know what you mean," he muttered softly. He wasn't a very 'social' cat either. "Nice to know," he meowed a little louder. Blazepaw was nicer than he thought she was. That's what you get for judging, he thought, grinning to himself.
