Icefire padded around the camp, bored out of her mind. There wasn't much to do in the small campsite. She noticed Fernpaw wandering, obviously thinking about something.
"Hey Fernpaw," she meowed approaching the apprentice. "What are you doing?" she asked, picking out a piece of fresh-kill. She had gone hunting previously and proudly saw that the two voles she caught were gone. "Care to share this with me?" Icefire asked politely.
((For Icefire's description at the beginning, can you just put: Icefire- slender white she cat with bright green eyes.))

Foxwhisper was lonely. He was so used to having a constant companion, someone to always answer his questions. Silvertooth hadn't visited him in a while either, which was disappointing. His own mother and sister were never around. Sometimes he wished he had an apprentice, someone to be the Foxpaw to his Brownfur. He had plenty requirements, and he didn't even think any of the kits or apprentices wanted to join him in the life of a medicine cat.
He'd just have to be alone for now.

Fernpaw acknowledged the warrior with a slow blink. "Sure. I'll have some." She took a delicate bite. "You know, training isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I don't think Ghoststar ever told me who my mentor was. I wasn't even there for my own ceremony!" The apprentice paused to chew, then continued. "Fighting isn't really my style either. Techniques, form, the times to strike and dodge... it just doesn't interest me." Fernpaw turned to Icefire. "Hey, you're a warrior. Have any advice?"

Icefire looked at Fernpaw with amazement. Fighting was her favorite part of being a warrior!
"I don't know if there's much that I can do, but what really does interest you? Fighting is a large part of it, but if you don't enjoy it too much, you can focus more on hunting..." Icefire suggested. Her brain was whirling with ideas, there wasn't much the apprentice could do...except maybe...
"Did you ever consider the possibility of maybe being a medicine cat? Foxwhisper doesn't have an apprentice yet, and he would need someone to take over once he passes..." she suggested, "The route of a medicene cat was not for me, I couldn't tell the difference between tansy and yarrow!" Icefire joked. Looking around she spotted Foxwhisper. "There he is!" she meowed, pointing with her tail.

"Medicine cat?" Fernpaw repeated incredulously. Icefire was right. She hadn't thought about it before. Sorting herbs? Treating cats? Getting messages from StarClan? Prophecies? Seems like it would be interesting. The apprentice let the silence draw out before answering. "Sounds cool. Think Foxwhisper would let me do it if I just asked? I would think there would be more to it than that," she meowed, blinking slowly again.

((I just came up with it, and thought it was funny(: I'm glad it was...good? Amusing? IDK. ))

Foxwhisper looked up when he heard his name and padded up behind Icefire and Fernpaw. "I don't know, maybe you should try asking him," he purred with amusement. "I'd love to have you as an apprentice, Fernpaw. But first, before we tell Ghoststar, I want to see if you can be dedicated. That is, if you choose the path of a medicine cat."

When the last chants faded into the soft murmurs of conversations Mysterysong stood up. Her fur was soiled with dirt and she realized how long it had been since she last groomed herself. "I'll see you later," she murmured to Duststripe and headed toward her den.
Rainpool, who had been sitting behind her mother, stepped forward. "Hi Duststripe!" She greeted her friend warmly. Duststripe purred and stood up to face the gray-blue warrior.
"Hi Rainpool. How are you?"
"I'm doing well. Would you like to go hunting with me? The prey pile's gotten a bit smaller."
"I would," Duststripe responded immediately. His spine tingled when he looked into her eyes but he wouldn't let it show. For once he felt embarrassed in front of the cat he had known his entire life.
"All right. Let's go tell Wildflower that we'll take the evening hunting patrol, if it's okay with her." Rainpool padded closer to the Highrock, thinking maybe the deputy would be over there after a Clan meeting. Rainpool could not spot her and turned toward Fernpaw who she saw was talking to Foxwhisper. "Excuse me; I'm sorry. Have either of you seen Wildflower?"

"Uhm," Foxwhisper looked up from licking his paw, "I haven't seen her around. Do you need her for something?" Foxwhisper was so used to being interrupted it didn't even phase him. After all, just a minute ago, he had been the one interrupting a convorsation.

Fernpaw blinked again. She had fallen into a rather bad habit of doing that. "I haven't seen Wildflower." Then she turned to Foxwhisper. "I can be perfectly dedicated, if I want to be. The job of medicine cat seems like the right position for me. What do you want me to do before we consult Ghoststar? You wanted to test my dedication..." The apprentice trailed off, leaving another silence, which was another habit of hers.

Dingoface is a very handsome tom, if you will. His short fur is a red/brown color, that that strongly resembles fur of a Dingo. Dinface really looks like a Dingo, though he is still a cat, he has tall ears that protrude from his head like poles. Dingoface has round blue eyes that are always glowing with curiousity, he has alway looked very diffrent from his brother and sister every since birth. His name could have been oddball, but instead Wildflower choose Dingokit/Dingopaw/Dingoface as a very fitting name for him. He appears to be an Abyssinian cat. Not like the cats would know. xD - Okay there it is!))

"We can see what you know," Foxwhisper thought, "And I oculd send you into the forest to see if you could find herbs I show you. Basically apprentice training. Only for a few days, and if you still want to stay, we'll talk to Ghoststar. Being a medicine cat is a very serious thing. You can't have mates, the sole purpose of your life is to take care of your clan and be StarClan's messenger. Do you think you can try?"

Graykit streatched her legs, yawning loudly. "Mamma," she mewed. "How much longer do we have to stay in here?"

Ghoststar poked his head into the nursery, seeing his mate and two kits. "I heard you from outside, noisy kit," he purred. "You'll be out in a few moons."

"I was talking to Mamma!" Graykit meowed, leaping onto her father's back and tugged at his ear playfully. "Come help me, Wolfkit!"

The apprentice nodded. "I could do that. You'd show me the herbs first, right? Or do you expect me to know them already?" she joked. Fernpaw was a serious cat, and did not often joke. "So... when will this be?"

Dewwing looked at the strange cat that barged into camp. He was still laying in the middle and everyone seemed to forget about him completely.
"Who is he?" Mosspath asked Dewwing, completely clueless.
"Honestly," Dewwing mewed. "I have no idea. I'll tell Ghoststar." The she-cat looked around and spotted the leader at the entrance to the nursery. Oh, that's right. Dewwing thought. Fogpool just had his kits. She trotted up to the leader cautiously. "Ghoststar? A strange cat is in the middle of camp. He's passed out." she said quietly, trying not to disturb the new kits.

Wolfkit nodded to her sister and ran up to her father, attempting to jump on his back. She unsheathed her tiny claws and grabbed onto her father's fur, but slipped off. Wolfkit looked up at her father with sad eyes. "I can't do it." she said in a tiny voice.

"I'd see what you knew out of all my herbs." Foxwhisper appreciated the apprentice's sense of humor. He sat down again and continued to talk."But yes, I'd show you the ones I wanted you to find first. Then you could help me treat a few cats and we'll see what you think. Does that sound good, Fernpaw? We can start right now, if that is what you wish."

"Sounds like a plan to me," Fernpaw meowed, nodding her head. It was all looking like fun-- something the apprentice hadn't experienced since her roam into ForestClan territory. But that was all behind her now. Goodbye, Fernkit the silly ambler. Hello Fernpaw, the medicine cat apprentice. Medicine cat apprentice. The title sent excited tingles down her spine. "Would you really let me treat cats, even if I haven't had any training yet?" she asked, barely containing her eagerness.
