"You're welcome," Lightstar smiled weakly, "You have to do what you have to do, and I understand that. Perhaps you can visist me in my dreams and let me know how the prey's running, how Bumblethorn is. Take care of my sister and her son as well." Lightstar didn't want to lose anyone else.

Mudcoat winced, "Don't talk like that, I might get to stay longer." He said stretching his tounge out to lick her muzzle, but then snapped it back remembering that he was Mudcoat, not Redamsk. This was going to be harder than expected. He groaned, "This is going to be hard." He muttered, "So I'm I your prisoner for now?" Mudcoat asked giving Lightstar a sly smile. Mudcoat was perfectly content on being Lightstar's prisoner, bring on the shackles.

Cottonfur spotted the medicine cat following Smallshadow to the nurery, most likely checking on Littlestream. "Um, Fishtail?" she mewed, shyly approaching the Clan cat. She had only been in SmokeClan for a moon or two, and she was starting to get used to Clan life. "I know you're busy, but can I have a quick word with you?" She then turned to Smallshadow. "I'm sorry," she mewed.
"It's okay," Samllshadow purred. "Littlestream will be okay waiting for a bit." He looked at Fishtail and meowed, "Go ahead. I'll stay with my sister until you return."

"Littlestream, I've come to check and see on the progress of your kits." Fishtail purred softly hoping not to alarm the queen. He slowly stepped through the ferns which crunched under his paws. His paw ran across her belly and there were small tips and taps which he expected to be a good development sign of the kits alive and healthy. "Well Littlestream I can feel your kits bustling inside of you which is a very good sign that your kits will be coming very soon." He smiled and waited for the reactions from his clan-mates.

Foxwing saw Fireblaze and her heart skipped a beat. She padded over toward him, bending over toward her injured side. Every step pained her, but she forced herself on. Fishtail will have my head... Foxwing thought, imagining the medicine cat flipping out that she was out of the nest. Hey, every sick person needs some fresh air...she can't keep me trapped in that den forever... Foxwing though, reassuring herself. "Hey Fireblaze," she meowed coolly. "How are you?" "Oh me?" Fireblaze murmored, he'd been so worried about everything lately. "I'm okay. How are you? Recovering? I'm thinking you're not supposed to be out here. Are you hungry?" He realized he was rambling on and dropped a piece of fresh kill at her feet. |

Foxwing smiled, "Thanks, we should share though," she meowed, pushing the mouse back toward him. "It's okay, I find it pretty sweet that you're worried," she meowed quietly. Foxwing blushed suddenly realizing how awkward her words were. "Forget I said that, c'mon i'm starving," she meowed quickly crashing her face into the prey. "Ugh I'm such an idiot..." she meowed quietly, for herself only to hear. Why do I have to be such a fool around him, he's just another tom...

He hoped that her kits looked just like... The tom stopped in the middle of his thought. Littlestream's mate, Tigereyes, had been killed only a few moons ago. Having a kit with his stripes might hurt his sister, and remind her of her love. He hoped that everything would turn out okay. Cottonfur smiled, and gave a small purr. Suddenly, a yowl rose from the forest, near the ForestClan border. The she-cat forgot about the other three cats with her and ran off into the woods. |

Fireblaze blushed as he took a bite out of the mouse. He realized their paws were touching, and didn't move them, he just smiled. "Why should I forget about it? I think it's good that I'm coming off sweet." He beamed and continued eating his half of the mouse. He'd never really thought about it before, but he really liked Foxwing. She was sweet and funny, and he always had the strange sense to protect her. He had noticed her awkwardness around him lately, however. She doesn't like me. I bet she knows that I like her and doesn't want to lead me on. He sighed.

Foxwing blushed, awkwardly moving her paw away from his. gotta stay independent. C'mon Foxwing, you can do this. she thought to herself. "Thanks for everything..." she meowed, taking another bite, "You can have the rest, I should go back to the medicine den..." she meowed quietly, nudging the mouse closer to him. "See ya later...I guess," she meowed flicking her tail in good-bye and limping back to Fishtail's den, groaning. There was a lot she needed to think about.

Fireblaze was right. She probably didn't like him, in fact, she was probably horrified at the fact they had even brushed paws. "You're welcome," her whispered after her, hoping it would carry on the wind. He flicked his tail and watched her limp into Fishtail's den. "I love you," he whispered, "Foxwing...I love you." And he meant it more than anything else he had ever said in his whole life.

A sudden yowl bolted through Fishtail's ears. Fishtail sprang up from kneeling towards the pregnant she-cat and followed what seemed to be a clan mates scent. His old bones ached but he had to find out exactly what had happened. No cat would have yowled like that unless they were in serious pain or it was a battle cry... He grimly thought. He couldn't take a battle right now, and neither could his Clan. With such an old Medicine Cat and no apprentice it would be unlikely for him to get to all the cats in time... He shuddered at the thought and pushed his pain towards being stronger to get to the cat in need. He took another scent at the air and it was quickly recognized as Cottonfur's. He hastily stopped, too fast for his old bones, next to Cottonfur and a fear scent loomed over them.

Littlestream laid happily in the nursery, rubbing her belly with her semi-fluffy tail. She smiled and purred, "I can't wait to see your face. I know your father will be proud." Suddenly, pain gathered in the queen's belly, and she yowled for the medicine cat.

"It's my kits," Littlestream meowed, in more pain than before. "I'm having my kits! Help!"
Smallshadow ran to the nursery and sat by his sister's side. He licked her ear and meowed, "It'll be alright." He then stepped outside the nursery walls and called for help. "My sister's having her kits! Is there anyone that can help?" The tom glanced around the camp quickly, looking for any cat that night know how to help deliver Littlestream's kits.

"Oh my goodness," Lightstar murmered. "Fishtail and Cottonfur are both out of camp and there's no one else here that I can think of! Here, I know a few things that I've seen medicine cats do. Firstly, you need to breath slowly and deeply. In, out. In, out." She put her paw on Littlestream's stomach. "Everything seems to be normal. You'll be fine. Just breath."
