Goldenstar stood back up. She went over to Wolfsoul. "Good luck with everything. I know NightClan will be safe with you. I'll do my best to rescue her from the Twolegs." Wolfsoul nodded. "Good luck, Goldenstar." she meowed. "I..." Wolfsoul was cut off when Duskwhisper bounded over.

"Thank you, Duskwhisper," Goldenstar purred to the shy black cat. "I hope to be back in a few sunrises. May StarClan grant it to be so. But I shouldn't worry when Wolfsoul is in charge. Make sure to obey her!" Goldenstar said, a hint of playfulness in her voice. "I better go tell Wolfheart goodbye and see if Waterstep is ready."

Duskwhisper nodded and turned to go speak with Waterstep. She slowed down as she approached her, worried that Waterstep hadn't forgiven her since their fight. Her eyes low, she mewed, "I hope you save your friend, Waterstep. I know how close you two must be. Good luck and stay safe." She said it truthfully, but her voice was just a little louder than a whisper.

"Goodbye, Wolfheart," Goldenstar mewed. Of course she knew that Wolfheart couldn't hear, but it was better than mouthing all the time, in the leader's opinion. She hoped that Wolfheart would be able to tell what she was saying. "Goodbye, Goldenstar. Don't give up hope if you mustn't." Goldenstar dipped her head to her and went back to the middle of the camp.

Goldenstar finished saying her farewells and nodded to Waterstep, signaling that she was ready to leave. She held her head high as she padded out of the NightClan camp, though fear was in her heart. She only knew that they had to find a Twoleg nest, or something of the sort. Please, whoever sent that dream, tell me where to go!

"So do I," Waterstep meowed without thinking. "Oh! I, uh, I already knew Silver was taken. I tried to drag her back to camp, but she was too heavy and she told me to run so I wouldn't get hurt. I was going to tell someone but then there was Earthpaw lying in the medicine cat's den and I helped her feel better with some herbs and... and... I'm so sorry."

The deputy padded around the camp trying to think of what would happen to Goldenstar and Waterstep on their journey to find Silvertooth. But she was the substitute leader from now until Goldenstar got back. She had to try not to worry too much about them. Leaders wern't supposed to look weak in front of their own clan.
