Leopardkit opened her eyes and took her first look at everything around her. She saw her mother, recognizing the she-cat by her smell. She saw her brothers and sisters who still had closed eyes, and she saw a few small flurries of snow entering the den. Her eyes widened at the sight and she let out a squeak, diving into the nest of moss. The kitten's tiny paw reached out and touched one just before it hit the ground.
"Leopardkit?" Mysterysong's sleepy voice inturrupted the silence. "What are you doing up?" She purred. "It's the middle of the night." She craned her neck furthur until she had a good view of her kit. "Your eyes are open!" She meowed excitedly, staying quiet to not wake the other kittens in the den.
Leopardkit pulled herself closer to her mother and snuggled in the queen's soft, black coat. Mysterysong closed her eyes and lay her head back down and within moments the two were asleep.

"Brownfur," meowed Foxpaw.

[Golden]

"Yes, Foxpaw?" Meowed Brownfur, picking out old herbs from her collection with her teeth. Leaf-bare wasn't near over and she had to have good herbs in case a cat fell ill.

"Is there anything you want me to do?"

[Golden]

"Do you know what catmint looks like? I want to be prepared for the hardest part of Leaf-bare." Brownfur meowed, shifting her small brown body so that she faced the apprentice.

In the nursery, Streamshimmer began to cough. Her body shook violently. Mysterysong looked at her friend worriedly. "Streamshimmer? Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Probably just a little tickle in my throat." Still, the she-cat stepped out of the den to not get the others sick if it was more than just something in her throat. Within seconds Mysterysong was beside her.
"The kits are asleep. Now let's get you to Brownfur."

[Lawl[iet]]

"Brownfur!" Oakwing meowed as he entered the medicine den. "I need to speak with you."

[Golden]

Brownfur was surprised to see that Oakwing, Streamshimmer, and Mysterysong had entered her den. "Hello!" She meowed. "All right, Oakwing. And I'll be right with you, Streamshimmer and Mysterysong."

"Flameriver!"Wildflower called from the nursery, wanting her mate to see the kits.
Kitekit, Poisonkit, and Shadekit snuggled up to their mother.

[Golden]

Flameriver's ears twitched at the sound of his name. He darted into the nursery immediately, stopping at the sight of his mate and three kits. A purr rumbled from his throat.

[i hope dawn never comes.]

She smiled licking his muzzle, and pointing to a black kit, the a black and white one then a brown one,"Kitekit, Shadekit, and Poisonkit".

[Golden]

"They're wonderful," He meowed, returning Wildflower's lick. "How are you feeling?"

"Just tired."She smiled yawning, and licking the three kits.

[Golden]

"Then I'll leave you to sleep. Goodnight, Wildflower. I love you... and our kits." Flameriver gave the four cats a lick and nuzzled his mate affectionately before backing out of the den and going to his own. Night was falling quickly nowadays and it was already dark.

Streamshimmer nodded, trying to stop coughing. She and Mysterysong backed up a few pawsteps to give Brownfur and Oakwing some privacy.

"Love you,too."She smiled closing her eyes and drifting away into sleep.

Flameriver gave himself a quick groom before going to sleep. He was happy; Wildflower was okay and so were their kits.

Mysterysong heard a squeak frm the nursery and ran back. There, right in front of her, Dreamwhisper opened her eyes. The queen hardly had time to think about Rainkit's eyes because a heartbeat later they were opening too. She knew all kits started with blue eyes, but Dreamwhisper's were like the Green-leaf sky, a crystal blue. Rainkit's eyes gave her face a very innocent expression and Leopardkit's were the darkest of all. They were obviously going to change color later, but Mysterysong wasn't sure about Rainkit's or Dreamwhisper's. Their eyes looked natural. "Go back to sleep, kits." Mysterysong murmured. "I'll be back soon." She checked on Dustkit, whose eyes had been opened for nearly a quarter moon, and Wetkit before running back to Streamshimmer.

"Sure," Foxpaw mumbled and darted into the words. A big clump was close to the camp, so he picked some chutes and returned to the den, his mouth full. "Here you go."

[Golden]

"Thank you, Foxpaw." Brownfur set the herb in its pile and turned back to the warrior to wait for him to speak. She tried not to show her feelings, but it was hard.
